What Is COMcheck?

4 min read

COMcheck is a compliance tool used to demonstrate that a commercial building meets the energy code requirements for its mechanical, lighting, and building envelope systems.

In plain terms: when you submit a commercial project for permitting, many building departments expect energy compliance documentation. COMcheck produces that documentation by checking the project's design against the applicable energy code and generating a report for the permit package.

COMcheck can address three areas: HVAC (mechanical) compliance, lighting power compliance, and building envelope compliance. Depending on your project, you may need one or more of these.

We prepare COMcheck documentation to help verify your project's compliance and support a smooth permitting process. Keep in mind that compliance is ultimately determined by your local building department — we prepare the documentation, but they make the determination.

If you have a commercial project that needs energy compliance documentation, let us know and we'll confirm what's required.
